have ever known.
It has been my

In 1989-1990 I came
for the first time
to the US to learn
addiction treatment
centers work. As my
Russian colleagues
I’ve got a lot of
new information and
experienced many new
feelings during that
trip. Some of those
experiences have
literally
transformed my life.
And the work Barbara
Carraway has done
for our group was
undoubtedly one of
the most
transformational
event.
Barbara’s great
heart and her
excellent
professionalism have
helped me to see
many of the
problems, disturbing
my life and also to
find a way to
resolve them.
Thanks to that
therapy I have been
strengthened in my
willingness to help
other people. Soon
after I came back
home, I started an
intensive
out-patient
treatment program
for alcoholics and
drug addicts that
works till now and
successfully
continues to help
people to recover
from their
addiction. Three
years ago we have
started also an
in-patient
(residential)
therapeutic
community for
addicts. This rehab
has already saved
lives of many
addicts.
And I’m strictly
convinced that most
of the our present
work has become
possible mostly
because our beloved
friend Barbara had
spent her time help
us to heal
emotionally and
spiritually.

I’m sure you don’t remember me, my name is
Bob ....... and I was in one of your “intense” weekends
back in the late 1980’s. in your facility on Monteray
road. I have thought of you often as you were one of the
few counselors who really had an impact on my life, (and
I especially liked your bear hugs that were so,so
needed!) I am very glad to see that you have continued
to help people with their lives and now to help and
train professionals. I thought when I met you that you
were truly a remarkable woman, and you still are.
